House with shuttersThe County of Huron owns and manages 415 rent-geared-to-income (RGI) units through the Huron County Housing Corporation; established with a mandate “to provide rent-geared- to-income housing to families and single persons.”

Housing Services provides all of the administrative and property management services for these properties; essentially acting as the landlord for these County-owned units.

Property management responsibilities include:

  • Preparing vacant units for occupancy
  • Executing tenancy agreements
  • Financial verification and calculating rents
  • Monitoring household income limits
  • Collecting rents
  • Providing safe residential units that are in compliance with health and safety, housing and maintenance standards
  • Conducting regular unit inspections
  • Preparing annual operating and capital budgets
