The County of Huron owns and manages 415 rent-geared-to-income (RGI) units through the Huron County Housing Corporation; established with a mandate “to provide rent-geared- to-income housing to families and single persons.”
Housing Services provides all of the administrative and property management services for these properties; essentially acting as the landlord for these County-owned units.
Property management responsibilities include:
- Preparing vacant units for occupancy
- Executing tenancy agreements
- Financial verification and calculating rents
- Monitoring household income limits
- Collecting rents
- Providing safe residential units that are in compliance with health and safety, housing and maintenance standards
- Conducting regular unit inspections
- Preparing annual operating and capital budgets
