Author Talks - Hosted by The Village Bookshop
2:00 PM - David Yates, Local Historian and Author of Gothic Huron: Heroes, Rogues, Murders, Daring, Bawdy Houses and Other Tales is Yates’ fifth book in the series and covers the period from the War of 1812 to Queen Victoria’s death in 1901
3:00 PM - Bonnie Sitter, Author of Onion Skins And Peach Fuzz: The Farmerettes which was developed into a stage play by Alison Lawrence that premiered at the Blyth Festival in August 2024. She is currently raising money to fund a documentary on these young women who participated in a government-sponsored program that urged young women to lend a hand and help with the war effort when the communities were facing a labour shortages on farms.

2:00 PM - Barbara Brown, co-author of "Reflections of Bayfield,” will do a book signing at 2 pm at the Archives & Heritage Centre. The book contains a lovely variety of Bayfield-related images across the decades, drawing on our Bayfield Historical Society collection.
3:00 PM - Bayfield Historical Society will also feature one of their publications, which they commissioned David Yates to write, and they designed and produced. It is called "Admiral Henry Wolsey Bayfield," and the author David Yates will be at the Archives & Heritage Centre at 3 pm to sign copies and answer questions.

Watch as an amazing chalk mural by Bronagh Morgan comes to life before your eyes during the Main Street Arts Festival. Bronagh will be creating a one-of-a-kind chalk work of art on the pavement of Main Street Bayfield from 2:00 to 6:00 PM. Kids and adults are also encouraged to a little creativity by creating their own chalk masterpieces on Main Street during the event.
About Bronagh Morgan
A visual and performance artist who creates custom outdoor chalk artworks, painted window and Wall murals, and commissioned artworks for individuals, businesses, organisations and special events of all kinds. As an experienced art teacher, I can involve guests/patrons/kids in the creation of pieces. There are no limits to what she can create, bringing images to life using chalk, paint and any kind of paved or hard surface. Chalk artwork lasts as long as dry weather does - this means that art done on a surface that is shielded from the elements can last a month or more.

Take part in this hands-on community art project with Huron County stained glass artist, Cherida McCullagh. Throughout the Main Street Arts Festival, you can contribute to the creation of a beautiful stained glass mosaic window. The finished window will remain in Bayfield to be enjoyed for years to come. Look for this activity at 1851 Bayfield Landing, 21 Main Street N.
About Cherida McCullagh
Cherida was born and raised south of Wingham, in Huron County. She is married, with a teenage son.
She enjoys working with stained glass, chainmaille, wire, as well as drawing, and with different paint mediums. Furthermore, Cherida is always taking new courses when the opportunity arises to try different things. Cherida has been working with stained glass for about twenty-two years. It all started with a course at a glass store in Ottawa, where her husband was posted with the military. She loves designing personal pieces and has recently added sandblasting as a personal flare.
The festival will also feature art classes for all ages to foster creativity in a fun environment. Main Street Arts Festival Adult Art Class
Sunday, September 22
3:30 – 5:30 PM
Join Robert Johnson for a fun beginner-friendly acrylic painting class where you’ll learn to create a beautiful sunflower! Perfect for those new to painting or looking to refresh their skills. This class will guide you step-by-step through the basics of acrylics. You’ll explore techniques from brushwork to color mixing as you bring a vibrant sunflower to life on canvas.
Supplies and materials are provided. Note: The Class will take place under a canopy tent in beside Pink Flamingo Bakery on Bayfield Main Street. We will move indoors in case of inclement weather.
About Robert Johnson:
Robert Johnson is a passionate artist who loves to paint. Growing up, his unwavering passion for the arts began in high school when he discovered his natural talent. He hasn’t looked back ever since.
Drawing inspiration from Mother Nature and classical architecture, Robert’s paintings pay tribute to his community at large. He portrays many subjects and has two different distinct styles, one realistic and one whimsical. Robert's artwork was first exhibited professionally in Key West's Gingerbread Square Gallery, where he had multiple one-man shows showcasing his paintings of the town. While residing on Anna Maria Island, he participated in over 100 juried outdoor art festivals, collecting numerous awards and fans. Proudly he has many paintings in the permanent collection at the Marietta Museum of Art in Sarasota.

Join Robert Johnson for a fun beginner-friendly acrylic painting class where you’ll learn to create a beautiful sunflower! Perfect for those new to painting or looking to refresh their skills. This class will guide you step-by-step through the basics of acrylics. You’ll explore techniques from brushwork to color mixing as you bring a vibrant sunflower to life on canvas.
Supplies and materials are provided. Note: The Class will take place under a canopy tent in beside Pink Flamingo Bakery on Bayfield Main Street. We will move indoors in case of inclement weather.

This immersive tour experience gives visitors the opportunity to learn more about life at the Gaol while interacting with actors portraying past inmates and staff who lived and worked at this National Historic Site between 1841 and 1911, including Mrs. Dickson, who worked as Gaol Matron from 1876-1895.
