The Huron County Health Unit is starting a Postpartum Depression support group for mothers experiencing symptoms of postpartum depression and anxiety issues. The group, led by a public health nurse and mental health specialist, will meet for six weeks starting April 18, 2017 in Clinton. Registration is free and child minding provided.
Since December, two cases of rabies have been identified in terrestrial animals in Huron County. As a result, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry will be conducting low-level rabies vaccine baiting flights in the Blyth-Wingham area in early April, 2017.
About 42% of adults in Huron County drink alcohol in a way that puts their health at risk. Drinking too much, too often can lead to many unwanted consequences. To help people better understand the connection between alcohol and health, the Health Unit is urging residents to Rethink Your Drinking.
The Huron County Health Unit has been notified that a calf from the Blyth area submitted for testing on February 27, 2017 was positive for the rabies virus. The public are reminded to avoid contact with wild animals and ensure their pets are immunized against rabies.
