Make Sun Safety a New Family Rule
The Health Unit is reminding families to enjoy the sun safely. Ultraviolet radiation, or UV rays, cause sunburns, skin cancer and eye damage. Children are most at risk because they tend to spend more time outdoors when the sun’s rays are strongest. So make sun safety a new family rule!
Heat Warning Issued for Huron County
Environment Canada has issued a heat warning which means temperatures and humidex levels are expected to be very high for the next several days. The Huron County Health Unit is reminding the public to take care to prevent heat-related illnesses.
Health Unit Issuing Student Suspension Notices
About 150 Huron County students could be suspended from school effective May 30, 2017 due to incomplete immunization records. Students and their families should have received a notice in the mail about possible suspension and are asked to contact the Health Unit at 1.877.837.6143 ext. 2025.
Health Unit Launches New Support for Postpartum Depression
The Huron County Health Unit is starting a Postpartum Depression support group for mothers experiencing symptoms of postpartum depression and anxiety issues. The group, led by a public health nurse and mental health specialist, will meet for six weeks starting April 18, 2017 in Clinton. Registration is free and child minding provided.
