The County of Huron is working to increase affordable housing options.
The County of Huron is creating a Housing Renewal Plan. This project involves looking for opportunities to create more affordable housing units on properties that the County already owns or properties that may be made available for housing by other levels of government.
County of Huron forests see benefits from 75 years of forest conservation programs.
The County of Huron’s 75th annual Forest Conservation Update report provides an overview of the conservation actions and passive recreation that happened for County-owned Forests in 2021. The County of Huron owns and maintains 14 forest tracts consisting of more than 1600 acres.
Making More Electric Vehicle Chargers Available in Huron County
The County of Huron, along with the Town of Goderich, Municipality of Huron East, and the Township of North Huron recently received funding through the Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP), an opportunity offered through Natural Resources Canada, to install electric vehicle chargers in Huron County.
Huron Clean Water Project now accepting applications.
The Huron Clean Water Project is a fund that supports water quality projects in Huron County. County of Huron shares current climate actions in honour of Earth Day.
In honour of Earth Day, the County of Huron is reflecting on the ways current actions are contributing to and mitigating climate change. County staff are taking proactive action to reduce consumption, achieve energy savings, generate awareness on climate concerns and issues, and are always looking for areas of improvement.
County of Huron Official Plan 5 Year Review Nears Completion
The Huron County Official Plan 5 Year Review process is nearing completion. The public is invited to learn more about the proposed Official Plan update by attending the final virtual Open House, which is scheduled for March 30th at 7PM. To help attract and accommodate development in Huron County, the County of Huron Planning, Economic Development, and Public Works departments have prepared a Growth Planning Best Practices Guide that local municipalities and the County can use to proactively address infrastructure and financial matters related to growth.
