Curbside service now available at all Huron County Library branches

August 14, 2020

[Huron County, Ontario] – Huron County Library is pleased to announce that as of August 15, 2020 curbside service is available at all 12 branches located throughout the County, including Alice Munro in Wingham, Bayfield, Blyth, Brussels, Clinton, Exeter, Goderich, Hensall, Howick, Kirkton, Seaforth, and Zurich. Hours vary from branch to branch and are regularly being adjusted to meet the public’s needs. Visit huroncounty.ca/library for complete curbside service details.

For the health and safety of staff and patrons, curbside service is currently available by appointment only. Patrons can place holds for items by visiting the library’s online catalogue or by calling their local branch. Once items are available, staff will contact patrons to schedule a pick-up appointment.

Borrowed materials should continue to be returned through the Library’s book drops, which are all now open. If patrons are unable to return borrowed items at this time, they will not incur fines. Fine Free summer continues until further notice. For questions or library account assistance, please contact your local branch during curbside hours.

“We appreciate everyone’s patience and support as we continue to work through the process of re-opening.” said Acting Director of Cultural Services, Elizabeth French-Gibson. “We understand our patrons and community are eager to re-enter the libraries and we will focus on the safest ways to do so as we move forward.”

Offering curbside service at all Huron County Library branches is the first step towards the next stage of re-opening. The Huron County Library is working to expand access to each branch, ensuring each unique library space can serve the greatest number of people in the safest ways possible. Work is currently underway to install desk shields in each branch, with the goal of opening in stages this fall for potential access to public computers and other in-branch services. Curbside service will continue to be an available option.

As the library works to re-open its doors, patrons can still access a wide range of services, including:

  • Curbside Service for physical materials.
  • Staff available via phone and email to help you find the item you need.
  • Free Parking Lot wifi available around the clock.
  • TD Summer Reading Club activities available online for the rest of the summer through the Library Facebook page or at curbside pick-up.
  • Access through the library website to a variety of online apps including CloudLibrary, Kanopy, Hoopla, Ancestry and more!
  • Booking for the Library’s community virtual meeting space through Zoom. https://www.huroncounty.ca/library/about/meeting-rooms/
