Promote Wellness in Your Workplace This Month

October 24, 2016

Huron County, ON – October is Healthy Workplace month. Local businesses are encouraged to make a commitment to health, create a culture surrounding workplace health and wellness, and increase awareness of the importance of overall health for their employees.

“A healthy workplace is a place where both the people are healthy and the organization they work in is healthy,” says Erin Hayes, Public Health Promoter. “Since most adults spend more than one third of their day at work, the workplace is an ideal setting to promote health and well-being.”

Hayes says a healthy workplace not only keeps employers engaged, but also helps increase staff morale, reduce stress, and improve overall productivity.

The Huron County Health Unit recently launched a new workplace wellness website called Workplace Wellness: Making good business sense in Huron. The website helps Huron County employers understand the benefits of wellness and explores strategies to help build wellness in the workplace.

The website also covers different health areas and offers links to free resources for employers. These resources support different and practical approaches to creating healthy work environments.

Employers can also subscribe to an online workplace wellness newsletter that will provide tips and resources. To learn more about healthy workplaces and sign up for the quarterly newsletter, visit www.huronworkplacewellness.ca.
