Huron County, ON — The Huron County Health Unit is looking for your input on an active transportation plan for Huron County. Active transportation is any method of going from one place to another using your own body. This could include walking, cycling, kayaking, or cross-country skiing. An active transportation plan is a long-term strategy to create environments that encourage people to move more.

More Families Eligible for Free Dental Care

Huron County, ON — Families who do not have dental insurance and meet the new income requirements may qualify for free dental care for their children 17 years of age and younger. The Ontario government has raised the income cut-off for the Healthy Smiles Ontario program.

Stay Home if Sick: Health Unit

The Huron County Health Unit is seeing an increase in enteric outbreaks, or stomach illness, across the county. They are advising residents to stop the spread of infection by staying home if you are sick.

No Cancer Cluster in ACW

The Huron County Health Unit has found no evidence of a cancer cluster in the Township of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh. The health unit began an investigation in January 2014 after receiving a concern from a resident.
