Huron County, Ontario –The Huron County Museum is seeking support from the community to help reflect the surprising and diverse history of innovation and industry in Huron County through the redevelopment of its Industry Gallery.
For centuries, the people of Huron have manufactured objects to use and to trade; from stone tools to pottery, from bicycles to steam engines, baseball bats, fountain pens, craft beer, and so much more. To better represent the diversity of this history, the Museum is working on a large-scale redevelopment of its Industry Gallery. The revitalized space will focus on the following themes: Lake and Labour, Natural Resources, Salt, and Industrial Diversity.
“It’s time for new and more diverse stories to be shared through the Museum’s Industry Gallery,” said the Museum’s Senior Curator, Elizabeth French-Gibbson. “This redevelopment will ensure that even more interactive and dynamic local information from across Huron County will be available for the enjoyment and education of school groups and visitors alike.”
To date, significant funds have been raised through sponsorships from local organizations such as Goderich Rotary, Goderich Kinettes, Liuna Local 1059, Microage Basics, The Huron Historical Society, and the Optimist Club of Clinton. The Museum is deeply grateful for these contributions. While the Museum is still accepting sponsorships from organizations, individuals interested in helping to preserve Huron County history for future generations are also welcome to donate to this project. For all donations over $20, donors will receive a charitable receipt. For donations over $250, donors will have the option to have their name added to a donor recognition page on the Museum’s website.
Donations can be made in person at the Museum during regular hours of operation.
To donate by phone, call: 519-524-2686. Donations can also be mailed to Huron County Museum, 110 North St., Goderich, ON, N7A 2T8. Cheques should be made payable to the Huron County Museum. Please specify that the donation is for the Industry Gallery.
