Be Prepared Heavy Snow & Weather Watch

February 21, 2014

Huron County, ON – Huron County, in conjunction with the Municipal Community Emergency Management Coordinators (CEMC’s) and local Fire Departments, wish to remind residents to be prepared.

Environment Canada informs us that milder than seasonal temperatures are forecast across Southern Ontario, in addition, forecasters are predicting rain. We wish residents to consider roof safety and heavy snow conditions. A buildings ability to stand up to weight of ice and snow depends on load design; age of the building and roof; condition of the roof; elevation; and maintenance during or after a major snow storm. Consider snow removal services and roof maintenance to prevent ice buildup.

To stay informed you can go to www.weather.gc.ca for special weather statements, watches and warnings that may be issued. Emergencies can occur suddenly and without any advance warning. Learn how to prepare your family and what to do if a disaster strikes at www.ontario.ca/beprepared .
