Make a Holiday Tree Ornament

Get into the creative holiday spiritwith a crafting afternoon at The Huron CountyMuseum! Craft your own fabric tree ornament as a gift or decoration.Celebrate traditional and sustainable methods of making holiday gifts andornaments, rather than buying. Join us for a social afternoon ofhand-stitching to create Christmas Tree Ornaments out ofyo-yos.

 

Yo-yos are small circles of fabric that are gathered together to createa puckered circle. They are used in quilting, appliqué, toy making anddecorating. Employing this old-fashioned tradition of reducing waste andrepurposing fabric scraps is also a fun, social and relaxed way to practiceor learn skills crafting with fabric.

The workshop is open to adults and kids ages 12 and up: perfect forfamily time or an afternoon of creativity with friends. $13 + HST foradults, $8 + HST for students or museum members. Register via Eventbrite or at the museum front desk.You can also call or email to save your spot (museum @ huroncounty.ca or519-524-2686).

Jennifer Triemstra-Johnston will be teaching the workshop. Jennifer is acostume designer by trade and owns Pick a Posie Vintage in Blyth and alsoruns the Fashion Arts & CreativeTextile Studio.
