Open Data

Open Data is defined as structured data that is machine-readable, freely shared, and used and built upon without restrictions.

Huron County has established an Open Data Portal that contains a repository of datasets that have been made open to the public. Below are some of the datasets that are available for download:

  • Zoning
  • Land Use (Both Urban and Rural)
  • Road Network
  • Trails
  • Environmental Data

Data is made available in “.shp”, “.kml” and tabular file formats.

What can you do with this data?

  • Build your own custom maps or applications.
  • Modify and edit your own data.
  • Perform tabular and GIS analysis to answer questions and make decisions.
