Huron County Summer Company program success story: Sydney Pollack opened the Blake Street Bakery on her grandparent’s suggestion and it was an immediate success. Working out of her own home, Pollack bakes cookies, cupcakes, bagels, pies and scones that are so delicious she has regular customers driving in from long distances for her treats.
Huron County Starter Company Plus program success story: Located in Centralia, the Jolt Fitness team consists of preventative health care professionals offering fitness education through personal fitness training and classes. “We serve the entire community with specialized programs, for youth, beginners, adults, and seniors. We offer a variety of cardio and strength classes, along with wellness-based classes such as mobility and yoga.
The County of Huron, in partnership with the Province of Ontario, has awarded two Huron County entrepreneurs grant funding of $5,000 to support their start-ups and growth efforts through the Starter Company Plus program. Successful recipients are Les & Nel’s Kitchenette and Wilhemina Bakery.
Huron County Starter Company Plus program success story: Huron County Collision is an autobody repair facility that specializes in insurance work, rust repair and rust restoration. Located in Vanastra, Michelle and Doug Dunn opened the business a year and a half ago after establishing a local client base in the surrounding area.
