The Corporation of the County of Huron’s Economic Development department is seeking a seasonal student for a Junior Economic Development Officer role!
Position Summary
- The Junior Economic Development officer is a full-time, temporary summer student position that supports the work of Huron County’s Economic Development Department, including tourism marketing, the Huron Business Centre, and Local Immigration Partnership.
- Up to 16-week position beginning May 11 to August 28, 2026 (16 weeks)

Role and Responsibilities
- Support Huron County Economic Development staff in planning and implementing department programs, workshops, and related activities
- Support the marketing and promotion of Huron County Economic Development’s programs and services through social media and digital content that engages target audiences on our social media channels (Facebook and Instagram) and website
- Act as ambassadors for Huron County Economic Development and its different business lines at select Huron County events
- Conduct research on tourism trends, best practices, and destination marketing benchmarks
- Keeping track of relevant statistics for presentations, social media, and the Ontario’s West Coast website
- Coordinate inventory and delivery of Huron County printed promotion materials.
- Support the maintenance of the department’s digital tourism photo library
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Education
- Education: entering final year of secondary school or currently enrolled in a post-secondary program.
- Strong skills in communication, time management, organization, computer literacy, and problem-solving.
- The position is funded in part by the Government of Canada’s Canada Summer Jobs program that requires eligible students be between 15 and 30 years of age.
Competitive Compensation
- Starting hourly wage as per the 2026 non-union student pay grid: Secondary School Student $17.58/hr, Post Secondary School Student $18.67/hr
