The Corporation of the County of Huron’s Cultural Services department is seeking a part-time Branch Assistant for the East Team (Seaforth, and Brussels branches)!
Position Summary
The East Team is currently hiring for a part-time Branch Assistant for the Seaforth and Brussels branches for approximately 11.5 to 18.5 hours per week.
Typical Schedule:
Tuesdays: Seaforth Branch 12:45-8:15 (7 hours)
Thursdays: Seaforth Branch 1:00-5:30 (4.5 hours)
Every 3rd Saturday: Seaforth Branch 8:45-4:15 (7 hours)
There is also the opportunity to pick up additional shifts on team and in other branches. Shifts will include some weekdays, weekends, and evenings. Schedule is subject to change to meet the needs of the library.
This position provides public library service to the community and surrounding area at branch libraries by providing front desk circulation service, reference, information, readers’ advisory and technology support services. Develops community connections to inform creation of programs and services. Assists with collection maintenance.

Role and Responsibilities
- Providing reference and readers’ advisory services
- Provide exemplary customer service while assisting patrons to find information in all formats via phone, email, or in-person
- Preparing and delivering library programs virtually and in-person
- Providing technical assistance to library users
- Working in more than one branch library
- Working in a collaorative environment and contributing to a positive workplace culture.
Qualifications and Education
- Post-secondary training in public library service, such as Library Technician or Techniques Diploma, or Excel Program in Small Library Management is an asset
- Two years experience (3000 hours) working in a public library or equivalent public service experience.
- Proficiency in computer use and knowledge of general software programs such as Microsoft Office Products, Outlook, Zoom, digital platforms, electronic databases, internet browsers and library automation systems. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills related to communicating with the general public
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Access to reliable transportation for work-related travel
Competitive Compensation
- $31.92 – $37.35 per hour – as per the 2026 non-union pay grid
