Newcomer Day at Camp

Newcomer Day at Camp is a chance for newcomers to Canada and their supporters to gather and experience a summer day of fun. Activities include:
- A guided hike
- Games of soccer
- Scavenger hunt
- Dance workshops
- Children’s painting crafts
- Yoga
- Cricket demonstration
- Meet a farm animal
- A barbecue (with halal meat, vegetarian and gluten free options)
- A bonfire (with marshmallows, of course!)
This annual event is hosted by the Goderich Lions Club and the Immigrant Advisory Council of the Huron County Immigration Partnership.
Everyone is welcome!
Participants are invited to bring a dessert from their culture to share with others.
It is supported by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, the YMCA of Southwestern Ontario, the County of Huron, the Municipality of Central Huron, and Town of Goderich.
People who attend will get a chance to connect with:
- Other newcomers
- Settlement staff from the YMCA
- Volunteers
- Huron County Library staff
- Community organization staff
- Elected leaders
Newcomer Day at Camp has been organized since 2019, with hundreds of newcomers to Canada and their supporters gathering, building friendships and making memories.
There is no cost to attend.
