Huron County, Ontario – The County of Huron has launched a community engagement process to help inform the update of its 10-Year Housing and Homelessness Plan. The County is working with Vink Consulting and J Consulting Group, who bring extensive experience supporting Service Managers and municipalities across Ontario in housing needs assessments, homelessness system planning, and community engagement.
“This engagement process will help the County gain a deeper understanding of current housing needs, experiences with homelessness, and opportunities to strengthen our local housing and homelessness system over the next decade,” said Jayme Koskamp, the County of Huron’s Housing Services Manager.
As part of this process, the County will undertake:
- A review of current housing and homelessness pressures
- An assessment of projected housing needs across the housing continuum
- Broad community and stakeholder engagement
- Input from people with lived and living experience
- Strategies to improve system coordination and implementation
A community survey is available now until December 24. It will be followed by focus groups, interviews, and a community workshop to help refine draft goals and strategies for the updated Plan.
County Council, local municipalities, community partners, and the public will receive regular updates as this engagement and analysis move forward.
