County of Huron Selects Huron Recovery Grant Program Recipients

The County of Huron, in partnership with Community Futures Huron, is pleased to announce the six recipients of the Huron Recovery Grant Program micro-financing. This program was aimed towards supporting existing small businesses in Huron County that have continued to make significant changes as they pivot to maintain operations and adapt to COVID-19 realities. Grants of $2,500 will be awarded to the successful recipients to help them offset costs associated with this transition.

s the second wave of COVID-19 has reached Ontario and Huron County has been elevated to the Yellow: Protect level in the COVID-19 Response Framework for Keeping Ontario Safe and Open, pandemic fatigue is a real concern. With regional case numbers on the rise, it is now more important than ever for Huron County residents to continue to adhere to local public health directions.

Community Paramedics are helping administer flu shots in Huron County.

Huron County Paramedic Services is helping Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) by offering flu shot clinics (influenza immunizations) in key locations for across the County throughout the fall season. County of Huron Expands ‘Out of the Cold’ Program

Opening November 16, the County of Huron’s Huron Out of the Cold: Heart to Home program expands on the efforts of the previous Out of the Cold program, with increased funding and staff specially trained in trauma informed care, substance use, and mental health services. The new program aims to provide an emergency shelter that also offers wrap-around supports for homeless individuals in Huron County.

Huron County Businesses receive $5,000 Grant from Starter Company Plus Funding Program

Starter Company Plus provides training, mentoring, and grant opportunities up to $5,000 for eligible participants to start, expand, or buy a small business. The program, administered by the County of Huron, aims to address local and/or regional economic development needs, and where appropriate, focuses on specific industries and sectors. Successful recipients of the latest intake for this program include Jolt Fitness and Coastal Coffee Company.

AgPrize 2020: First Round of Winners Announced!

Earlier this year, the County of Huron Economic Development Department introduced a challenge question competition, AgPrize 2020, which invites participants to submit their proposals on innovative solutions for the agri-food sector. Strong submissions for each question category are eligible to win a cash prize. The first round of challenge question closed earlier this summer with winners announced.
