Huron County, Ontario – The County of Huron’s Immigration Partnership celebrated seven immigrants and newcomers to Canada who are making a difference in their communities at this year’s I Am Huron awards, building on the momentum of the program’s successful launch in 2025.
The awards program invited nominations of immigrants who have made a meaningful impact through their work, leadership, or community involvement. In total, 36 nominations were received. A volunteer selection committee reviewed all nominations and selected seven outstanding individuals from across the county to be recognized.
Recipients were chosen based on their nomination submissions, with a focus on contributions to the community and society, entrepreneurial and economic impact, and cultural and artistic contributions.
“This year’s recipients are true social connectors,” said Pam Somers, chair of the Huron County Immigrant Advisory committee, who spearheaded the program. “As volunteers, family members and workers, they consistently put the social well-being of others first, and their dedication strengthens the fabric of Huron County.”
