Huron County, Ontario – In an age of artificial intelligence, misinformation and disinformation are becoming increasingly common online. In celebration of Media Literacy Week, the Huron County Library is inviting community members to take part in practical workshops designed to help them determine what online information they can trust.

Participants will learn practical tools and strategies for evaluating online information, identifying misleading content, and making informed decisions about the credibility of digital sources.

The free workshops are being hosted at:

  • Alice Munro Branch, Wingham on Monday, Oct. 26, 6:30-7:45 p.m.
  • Goderich Branch, Wednesday, Oct. 28, 6:30-7:45 p.m.
  • Exeter Branch, Thursday, Oct. 29, 2:30-3:45 p.m.

“These workshops will provide a great opportunity for participants to build essential digital media literacy skills that can be used in their everyday online activities,” said Jim Seale, Programming and Community Engagement Coordinator with the Library.

For those unable to attend, the workshops were developed using materials from CTRL-F, a free online digital media literacy program created by CIVIX. Anyone interested in building their digital media literacy are encouraged to explore the CTRL-F course and its resources.

The workshops are designed for adults but those aged 12 and older are welcome to attend.

Registration is encouraged by contacting the host branch. For branch contact information, please visit: https://www.huroncountylibrary.ca/locations/
