County of Huron Appoints Denise Van Amersfoort Director of Planning and Economic Development

Huron County, Ontario – The County of Huron is pleased to announce the appointment of Denise Van Amersfoort as Director of Planning and Economic Development.

Denise brings extensive experience to the role. She is a Registered Professional Planner with a Master of Science in Rural Planning and Development from the University of Guelph. Since joining the County in 2008, she has held progressively senior positions, most recently as Manager of Planning, where she developed a strong understanding of the planning and economic development landscape across Huron County and worked closely with municipal partners, stakeholders, and the community.

In her new role, she will lead the integrated Planning and Economic Development department, supporting sustainable growth, responsible land use planning, and economic vitality across the region.

“I’m excited to continue my professional journey in this new role and look forward to working closely with community members, business leaders, and elected officials to support the continued growth and prosperity of Huron County,” said Denise Van Amersfoort.

The County would also like to recognize the contributions of the former Director of Economic Development, Vicki Lass and the current director of Planning and Development, Sandra Weber and thank them for their dedicated service to the organization and the community.
