Newcomers to Canada and their supporters are invited to spend a day at Camp Klahanie!

August 9, 2023

Huron County, Ontario – The County of Huron’s Immigration Partnership invites newcomers to Canada and their supporters to spend a day at Camp Klahanie on August 19 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  This FREE event will offer a wide variety of games, activities, food, and a chance to build new connections.

“Lions Clubs are dedicated to creating and fostering a spirit of understanding among people both locally and around the globe. Newcomer Day at Camp helps build connections and friendship for people who are new to our country with those who are long-time residents of our community,” said Don Edward, president of the Goderich Lions Club.

Some of the camp-themed activities planned include a scavenger hunt, nature hike, yoga, soccer, volleyball, cricket, and more.  Participants will also enjoy a free barbeque, evening bonfire, and musical entertainment throughout the day.

“I’m excited to participate in this welcoming and collaborative event,” said Warden Glen McNeil. “Thank you to the many local organizations that are working together to bring us this fun day in Huron”.

This event is hosted by The Goderich Lions, the YMCA of Southwestern Ontario, and the Huron County Local Immigration Partnership, with support from Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada.
