Huron County Celebrates Welcoming Week Sept 8 to 17

Huron County, Ontario – Welcoming Week is an annual campaign and celebration to showcase the movement of communities striving to be more welcoming places for all, including immigrants. This year, Welcoming Week is being held from September 8 to 17 and Huron County is participating!

“It is a privilege for me to welcome everyone as we celebrate Welcoming Week in Huron County again this year.”  Said Huron County Warden Glen McNeil.  “We want to enable all of our new residents to enjoy everything that Huron has to offer as we continue to thrive and support each other”.

Events for Huron’s Welcoming Week are being held throughout the County. All are invited to join one, or all, of the FREE community events including:

  • Welcome night, Seaforth Library – September 11, 7:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m.
  • Welcome night, Goderich Library – September 13, 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
  • Welcome night, Brussels Library – September 14, 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
  • Introduction to African drumming workshop, Exeter BIA Farmer’s Market – September 15, 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
  • Welcome booth, Clinton Harvest Festival – September 16, 11;00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Huron County’s Cultural Services and the Huron County Immigration Partnership are also working with both newcomers to Canada and long-time residents on a community arts-based cookbook project called Tastes Like Home.  Art workshops, related to this project, will be hosted during Welcoming Week.

Welcoming Week is hosted by the Huron County Immigration Partnership with support from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
