The County of Huron Thanks Local Childcare Providers on Childcare Worker and Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day

October 18, 2022

Huron County, Ontario – The County of Huron, and its Children’s Services Division, would like to recognize and thank Huron’s many Child Care Providers for the incredible services they provide to Huron’s families and community.

October 18, 2022 is Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day.  This day recognizes the commitment, hard work and dedication of Early Childhood Educators (ECEs) and staff who work with young children. Each year, the day is proclaimed by The Ontario Coalition for Better Child Care (OCBCC), the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), municipalities and school boards across Ontario, and is marked by hundreds of child care centres, unions, and allies.

“I extend my heartfelt thanks to Huron’s Child Care Providers,” said Warden Glen McNeil. “Programs like these provide an essential service in our community, one that is critical for our whole community’s economy, health, and vitality.”

Administered through the Children’s Services Division of the County’s Social and Property Services Department, there are 11 centre-based Child Care locations, 13 Licensed Home Child Care settings, and 4 Child and Family Centre locations in Huron County. Together, these 250 Childhood Educators and support staff provide care for approximately 1500 families in Huron.

Huron County Children’s Services will be hosting a professional development day on October 21, 2022 for all of the County’s ECEs to attend.  This event will focus on outdoor education for young children as well as offer appreciation to the Early Childhood Educators within the County.

“We wish to extend our deepest appreciation to those in this very important sector and hope all will take a moment to thank the ECEs they know,” said Cheryl Patience, Manager of Ontario Works and Children’s Services.
