County of Huron Expands ‘Out of the Cold’ Program

Opening November 16, the County of Huron’s Huron Out of the Cold: Heart to Home program expands on the efforts of the previous Out of the Cold program, with increased funding and staff specially trained in trauma informed care, substance use, and mental health services. The new program aims to provide an emergency shelter that also offers wrap-around supports for homeless individuals in Huron County.

Huron County Businesses receive $5,000 Grant from Starter Company Plus Funding Program

Starter Company Plus provides training, mentoring, and grant opportunities up to $5,000 for eligible participants to start, expand, or buy a small business. The program, administered by the County of Huron, aims to address local and/or regional economic development needs, and where appropriate, focuses on specific industries and sectors. Successful recipients of the latest intake for this program include Jolt Fitness and Coastal Coffee Company.

AgPrize 2020: First Round of Winners Announced!

Earlier this year, the County of Huron Economic Development Department introduced a challenge question competition, AgPrize 2020, which invites participants to submit their proposals on innovative solutions for the agri-food sector. Strong submissions for each question category are eligible to win a cash prize. The first round of challenge question closed earlier this summer with winners announced.

October 22 is the 20th annual Child Care Worker & Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day in Ontario. The County of Huron would like to recognize and thank all Early Childhood Educators (ECEs), staff of child care centres, and Home Child Care providers for the commitment, hard work and education provided to the youngest citizens of Huron County.
