County of Huron Ends State of Emergency.

On April 6, 2022, the County of Huron ended the State of Emergency that was declared on March 24, 2020 in response to the global COVID-19 pandemic. Municipalities may declare state of emergencies in accordance with the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act.

Huron County Economic Development supports employee recruitment for local tourism businesses.

The Huron County Economic Development Team is launching a community-driven, social media-based tourism job board to support local businesses in promoting available employment opportunities.

County of Huron Releases 2021 Annual Report

The County of Huron 2021 Annual Report provides a summary of the County’s priority projects as well as details on individual services areas.

Huron County families will benefit from Ontario’s Better Deal investment in childcare.

For participating childcare centres, the Ontario Better Deal promises to reduce child care fees through four steps of reduction over several years for an average of $10 a day per child by September 2025. The County of Huron Children’s Services Team is working with local childcare providers who wish to participate in the Canada Wide Early Learning and Child Care Plan.

Community members are invited to attend an information session to learn which local organizations are currently working to provide supports to the people of Ukraine, what supports are currently available to newcomers who might be arriving from Ukraine, and how local residents can contribute to these efforts.

Huron County Paramedics providing essential support to Long-Term Care

The County of Huron commends its Emergency Services Department and Paramedic Team for the exceptional services they have provided since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. This team has worked quietly behind the scenes, and helped keep long-term care and retirement homes in Huron stay safe and healthy as they face the challenges brought on by COVID-19.

Huron County Economic Development’s tourism and marketing team has won the 2021 Marketing Canada Award from the Economic Developer’s Association of Canada (EDAC) for the 2021 Huron Hygge program. County of Huron forests see benefits from 75 years of forest conservation programs.

The County of Huron’s 75th annual Forest Conservation Update report provides an overview of the conservation actions and passive recreation that happened for County-owned Forests in 2021. The County of Huron owns and maintains 14 forest tracts consisting of more than 1600 acres.

Ribbon Skirt Project Comes to the Huron County Museum

The Huron County Museum is very pleased to host The Ribbon Skirt Project: Creating & Gifting a Cultural Connection, a collection of more than 215 ribbon skirts which will be on display throughout the Museum from March 12-April 10, 2022. The exhibit is open to the public during regular Museum hours of operation.
