It Pays to Quit Smoking

June 24, 2014

Huron County, ON – Did you know that you can save over $3,000 a year if you quit smoking a pack of cigarettes a day? What would you do with that extra money? What about quitting if you could get five weeks of free nicotine replacement therapy, a cost savings of over $100?

Whatever your motivation, if you’re thinking of quitting, the Huron County Health Unit can help.

The Huron County Health Unit is offering another STOP (Smoking Treatment for Ontario Patients) workshop this summer in partnership with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.

Public Health Nurse Julie Verch says, “If you’re ready for a change and looking to leave the pack behind, the STOP workshops are a great opportunity. The workshop arms you with information about how to make your own personal quit plan, tips on how to cope with cravings, as well as how to properly use nicotine replacement therapy. As an added bonus, for those eligible participants, we can offer you five weeks of nicotine patches for free.”

The next STOP workshop is in Wingham on July 24 at 6:30pm.

To learn more, see if you’re eligible and to register, call the Huron County Health Unit at 519-482-3416.
