Huron County Economic Development supports employee recruitment for local tourism businesses.

April 6, 2022

Huron County, Ontario – The Huron County Economic Development Department is introducing a new program to assist the local tourism industry in finding and hiring staff for their busy summer season. This spring, the Economic Development Team is launching a community-driven, social media-based tourism job board to support local businesses in promoting available employment opportunities.

“Through our recent Business Retention & Expansion Survey, we learned that 52% of our tourism businesses are experiencing challenges filling staffing positions, especially during the peak summer season,” said Director of Economic Development, Vicki Lass. “To support our local businesses, the County’s Economic Development Team is using its marketing resources to further promote the many exciting job opportunities in Huron’s tourism and hospitality industry”.

Huron County based tourism businesses looking to hire employees for the summer season can visit www.surveymonkey.com/r/owcjobs to be featured on the HuronCountyjobs social media on Facebook and Instagram.

For this program, eligible tourism businesses include restaurants, accommodations, breweries, wineries, indoor and outdoor recreation, tourism sites and attractions, and more.

The OWCJobs campaign will also provide information to job seekers about the many different types of career opportunities available in the tourism and hospitality industry by profiling Huron County tourism businesses and people working in the industry locally.  The campaign will run on social media until the end of June, 2022.

For more information about this project, including how to participate, email tourism@huroncounty.ca.

The OWCJobs campaign is supported by Regional Tourism Organization 4 (RTO4) and The South Huron Chamber of Commerce.
