Health Unit Launches Workplace Wellness Website

August 18, 2016

Huron County, ON – The Huron County Health Unit is launching a website for local businesses. Workplace Wellness: Making Good Business Sense in Huron will help Huron County employers build wellness in the workplace.

“Employees are an organization’s most valued asset, so keeping them healthy is important,” says Angela Willert, Senior Public Health Promoter. “By investing in well-being, Huron County employers will increase job satisfaction, staff morale, and productivity in their workplace.”

Willert says to remain competitive, businesses need to consider what will attract and retain employees. An employer that values physical and psychological health is at an advantage; when employees are happy and healthy, they do their best work.

“Workplace wellness does not have to be expensive or complicated,” explains Willert. “It involves making a commitment to health, finding out your workplace needs, and then making it happen. It’s something even small businesses within Huron County can do.”

The website also covers different health areas and links to free resources for employers. These resources support different and practical approaches to creating healthy work environments.

Employers can also subscribe to an online workplace wellness newsletter that will provide tips and resources.
