Free Outdoor Movie Night in Blyth July 28

July 12, 2017

Huron County, ON – Families are invited to a free outdoor movie night at Blyth Lions Park July 28 as part of the Blyth 140th Anniversary celebrations.

Come watch The Lego Batman Movie as part of a tobacco-free event which includes activities, games and trivia.  Family activities begin at 6:45 p.m., and the movie begins at dusk. Please bring lawn chairs and blankets to sit on.

Snacks will be available to purchase at the event. A water refill station will also be provided by Healthy Kids Community Challenge Huron, so please bring your water bottles.

This family-oriented event brings attention to the role of media messaging on tobacco use.

“Movies remain one of the last places that the tobacco industry can advertise to youth,” says Jacqueline Uprichard, Public Health Promoter with the Huron County Health Unit. “Our efforts aim to get tobacco imagery out of youth-rated movies.”

At the event, youth volunteers will talk about how smoking in movies rated for children can influence tobacco use.

This tobacco-free event will take place rain or shine. The rain location is the Blyth Arena and Community Centre, located at 377 Gypsy Lane, Blyth.

The event is hosted by the Huron County Health Unit, in partnership with Healthy Kids Community Challenge Huron, the Municipality of North Huron and the Blyth 140th Anniversary.
