Food for Library Fines Returns

September 2, 2014

HURON COUNTY, ON – Here’s your chance to donate to local food banks, while ‘paying’ your overdue library fines!

From September 15-21, 2014, the Huron County Library is bringing back ‘Food for Fines’ to all twelve of its branches. Throughout the week, the library branches will accept non-perishable food items as payment for overdue items. Library users have the opportunity to clear their record, return overdue materials, and support local food banks.

‘Food for Fines’ is offered through the Huron County Library, in partnership with the Huron County Health Unit and local food banks. During the program, fines for items are waived on a one-to-one ratio; one item of food for each overdue book!

All donations received through ‘Food for Fines’ are distributed to food banks within Huron County. Some restrictions apply; please visit your local library branch or www.huroncounty.ca/library for more information.
