Emergency Services recipients of AgriSpirit Fund

October 17, 2018

Huron County Emergency Services is pleased to announce they are recipients of the 2018 Farm Credit Canada, AgriSpirit Fund.

The Public Access to Defibrillator Program (PAD) was chosen as one of eighty programs from over 1400 applications across Canada. The AgriSpirit Fund awards organizations in four areas: those providing community enhancement or service, health and safety, education, arts and culture or other projects such as pathways and greenspaces.

When a person of any age, suffers a cardiac arrest seconds count. According to Heart and Stroke Ontario, only 1 in 10 persons survives a cardiac arrest outside of a hospital. Statistics show that a person’s best chance of survival occurs when CPR is provided in combination with a defibrillator.

The $20,000 grant from Farm Credit Canada in addition to our capital budget for 2018 has allowed us to replace 38 of 80 automatic external defibrillators (AED) in elementary and secondary schools, libraries, arenas and Municipal buildings across Huron County.

Thank you Farm Credit Canada for your support!
