The County of Huron’s annual SLED (Supporting Local Economic Development) program opens on February 8, 2021. Successful projects will be provided up to $10,000 through the SLED fund and must be completed by March 31, 2022.

County of Huron Selects Huron Recovery Grant Program Recipients

The County of Huron, in partnership with Community Futures Huron, is pleased to announce the six recipients of the Huron Recovery Grant Program micro-financing. This program was aimed towards supporting existing small businesses in Huron County that have continued to make significant changes as they pivot to maintain operations and adapt to COVID-19 realities. Grants of $2,500 will be awarded to the successful recipients to help them offset costs associated with this transition.

Huron County Businesses receive $5,000 Grant from Starter Company Plus Funding Program

Starter Company Plus provides training, mentoring, and grant opportunities up to $5,000 for eligible participants to start, expand, or buy a small business. The program, administered by the County of Huron, aims to address local and/or regional economic development needs, and where appropriate, focuses on specific industries and sectors. Successful recipients of the latest intake for this program include Jolt Fitness and Coastal Coffee Company.

AgPrize 2020: First Round of Winners Announced!

Earlier this year, the County of Huron Economic Development Department introduced a challenge question competition, AgPrize 2020, which invites participants to submit their proposals on innovative solutions for the agri-food sector. Strong submissions for each question category are eligible to win a cash prize. The first round of challenge question closed earlier this summer with winners announced.

Huron County Launches Digital Service Squad to Help Small Businesses Adopt Online Technologies

Huron County Economic Development, in partnership with nine municipalities and the eleven Business Improvement Areas (BIA) and other business groups across the County, has received a $90,000 grant from Digital Main Street Ontario, funded by FedDev Ontario, for a Digital Service Squad to help main street businesses in the region use digital technologies to adapt to a rapidly changing environment. Digital Service Squads are fundamental to Digital Main Street’s design and success, with trained specialists who meet with small businesses, at no cost, to help them improve their online presence.
