County of Huron Recovery Team Takes Action

June 11, 2020

[Huron County, Ontario] – The County of Huron has been proactively preparing for COVID-19 recovery with a series of initiatives developed by the County of Huron Recovery Team. In light of the province’s recent announcement of phase 2 re-openings, recovery efforts remain vital to assist businesses and communities through this transition and to plan for the future.

“The County remains dedicated to working collaboratively to support our local business community,” says Warden Jim Ginn. “Our aim, as a County, is to help our local economy and businesses find the tools and supports needed to navigate a path of recovery from the pandemic.”

The County’s economic recovery efforts are divided into three primary action teams with the goals of providing support where it is needed, helping people back to work in a healthy and safe environment, and encouraging citizens to make local purchases and support local businesses. These three teams focus on business development, community development and data and research.

The Business Development Recovery Team continues to support businesses through tourism marketing campaigns, one-on-one business and developer support and referrals, providing information and education resources through webinars, toolkits and grant programs, and implementing strategic industry projects in tourism, agriculture, workforce and housing.

The Community Development Recovery Team identifies longer term projects that will help move the community forward. This team is working directly with members of the Huron County community and municipal representatives to address local challenges and encourage local collaboration.

Finally, the Data and Research Recovery Team is collecting data to help local businesses and community stakeholders make informed decisions as they move forward through the current pandemic. This includes partnering with educational institutions researching the COVID-19 related recovery planning knowledge.
