Blyth Festival Art Gallery: Descendants an art exhibition by Tony Miller

Descendants by Tony Miller opens at the Blyth Festival Art Gallery July 13th at 6 pm and runs through August 10th.

My struggles with racism and poverty have led me to a fascination with my African roots. My ancestors on both side of my family’s were escaped slaves that settled in Owen Sound, the last stop on the Underground Railroad. The settlement offered freedom and opportunities for the Diasporas. The psychological effects of the school system, religion and superstition as well as my one time almost non-existent identity have led me to appreciate the uniqueness of my culture and heritage. This knowledge has also led to my creative development.
