Huron County Recovery Team

The County of Huron has been proactively preparing for recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic with a series of initiatives developed by the County of Huron Recovery Team. This team was created to provide support where it is needed for the community by helping people get back to work in healthy and safe environments and encouraging citizens to make local purchases and support local business.

 The County’s economic recovery efforts are divided into three primary action teams that:

  • Help businesses and communities address issues and challenges that arise;
  • Use data for informed decisions and planning; and
  • Identify long-term initiatives that will help move the community and businesses forward.

Business Development

  • Develops toolkits, workshops, and webinars
  • Provides resources to local businesses including government & financial supports and local PPE suppliers
  • One-on-one business consultation and support
  • Regular communication to local businesses through newsletters and social media
  • Strategic industry projects in tourism, agriculture, workforce and housing

Community Development

  • Identifies long term projects to help move the community forward
  • Creates Local Community Recovery Action Groups (LCRAG)
  • Maintains a County-wide advisory recovery advisory group
  • Ensures two-way communication between community members, businesses and the recovery team

Data and Research 

  • Collects and researches data to help local businesses and the community make informed decisions
  • Partners with educational institutions researching COVID-19 recovery planning
  • Identifies data needed to measure recovery objectives
  • Conducts business impact surveys
  • Maintains Huron County BizMap highlighting business’ current operating status
