August 31 is International Overdose Awareness Day. This event raises awareness of drug overdose and works to decrease the stigma of a drug-related death. This awareness day also acknowledges the grief of friends and family of loved ones lost to drug overdose.
Huron County Health Unit reminds people, when enjoying outdoor activities, to protect themselves against mosquito and tick bites. Precautions include: wearing light-coloured, long-sleeved shirts, long pants and closed-toed shoes, using an insect repellent approved by Health Canada, limit time outdoors at dawn and dusk, and conducting head-to-toe tick checks.
