Huron Students Get Online Homework Help

Huron County – A new online resource that will help students and educators quickly find Internet resources on health and social topics has been launched in Huron County.

Health Class Help"" Health Class Help was created by the Huron County Health Unit. It contains hundreds of reliable links for students and teachers on health class topics, including alcohol, drugs, nutrition, parenting, physical activity and tobacco.

Public Health Nurse, Sandra Feltz, says the online tool replaces the hard copies of the school library resource binders that have been provided to secondary schools and C.O.P.E. sites over the past number of years. “We know that students and teachers wanted an online resource so they could get credible information anywhere, anytime, from any computer whether at school, at home, or while participating in distance education.”

Feltz says the tool was designed for use by secondary students and teachers, but elementary school teachers will find Health Class Help useful for background information for their lessons.

Testing of the tool was done with a group of secondary school students who reported that they would use the site for health class and biology homework. Feltz said she was particularly pleased to hear the focus group of students said they would use it ahead of Google. “There is so much information on the internet – this resource ensures that students are getting credible health and social information.”
