Huron County Purchases PRISM-911 Program
Huron County – The County of Huron announced today that it has purchased a community notification system called PRISM-911.

Huron County PRISM-911 Keeping You Informed and Safe"The system calls residents within minutes of the County being made aware of any emergency such as boil water notifications, chemical and nuclear disasters, and information on lost children or missing seniors. PRISM-911 can begin an emergency call out campaign in less than 20 minutes.

The County has purchased the award winning system from the City of Quinte West and hopes to have it up and running by November. The system has been tested for several years in Quinte West, including under emergency situations.

Warden Ken Oke says PRISM-911 will enhance public safety. “We’ll be able to react quickly to any emergencies by notifying the general public about any action they should take.”

Oke also says the system is cost effective since it reduces the human resources needed to reach community members in an emergency.

The County will work with the developers of the system from Quinte West to implement it in Huron County. The PRISM-911 program consists of Quinte West’s customized GIS (Geographic Information System) and Community Notification System applications.

PRISM stands for Protective Response Interactive Systems Management.

The public will be asked to give their consent to have their phone numbers entered into the system over the next several months to prepare for the launch in the fall.
