Where Did That Painting Go?
Goderich, Ontario - Starting Tuesday March 20th, 2012 selected artworks, currently on display in County buildings, will be travelling to the Huron County Museum to be part of a special exhibition. Each artwork, which is part of the Huron County Art Bank, will be displayed in the upcoming exhibit Picturing Huron County: A Retrospective of the Huron County Art Bank.
The Huron County Art Bank is a repository of art by Huron County artists, owned by the Corporation of the County of Huron and administered by the Huron County Museum.
Picturing Huron County: A Retrospective of the Huon County Art Bank will run concurrently with the Twelfth Huron County Art Show & Sale. Both exhibits run from April 23 to September 2, 2012 and are included with regular museum admission.
The Huron County Art Bank is one of several initiatives made possible by a generous bequest from the Estate of Susannah Lattimer to the Corporation of the County of Huron. The proposal to establish the Art Bank was made to County Council in 1997 with the goal of collecting thirty to thirty-five pieces of art over approximately ten years. Artworks are chosen for the Art Bank by way of a judged art show held at the museum.
Since 2000, eleven such art shows have been held, collecting a total of thirty-three pieces for the Art Bank. In April 2012, three additional artworks will be chosen as winners of the Twelfth Huron County Art Show & Sale and also join the Art Bank.
The Huron County Museum is located at 110 North Street, Goderich, Ontario. For more information you may reach the Museum at 519.524.2686 or visit the website at www.huroncounty.ca/museum
