Touch the Truck Returns for Sixth Year

Huron County, ON – Kids get to put their imagination in gear and go at the sixth annual children’s literacy event, “Touch-the-Truck”, on Saturday, June 14, 2014. ”

What child doesn’t dream about getting behind the wheel of a fire truck, an ambulance, a road grader or a dump truck? Their wildest dreams will come true when they get behind the wheel of the real rigs at this popular family-friendly event.

You will find the big vehicles, rain or shine, on Saturday, June 14th from 9 AM until 12 noon at Lavis Park, located on Highway 8, Holmesville.

Admission is free, but participants are asked to bring a non-perishable food item and help fill a loader bucket for the Salvation Army in Clinton. Food and snacks will be available for purchase at the Food Booth.

Road graders, tractors, dump trucks and many more vehicles will be available for children to explore. Lots of fun literacy activities are planned as well. Get your A-Z license on the pedal tractor course, join the letter and number hunt in the bale maze, have fun in the large gravel play area and build or trace a letter. These are some of the many activities organized by the Huron County Children’s Services staff for this special family literacy event.

“Touch the Truck” community partners include: Lavis Contracting Company Limited, the County of Huron, and the Municipality of Central Huron.
