Important Notice: Public Offences Administration Office Advises the Public to Prepare for Potential Mail Service Disruption

August 26, 2016

Given a potential mail service disruption next week, regular mail to and from the court will not be possible. During this time, you are encouraged to deliver time-sensitive documents in person, using a courier or professional process server, or electronically by fax or email.

The Provincial Offences Administration Office at 1 Courthouse Square in Goderich (lower level) can be reached by phone at 519.524.8394 ext. 2, by fax at 519.524.2044 or by email at poa@huroncounty.ca

If you have already mailed your documents or forms to the court by regular mail, the court may not be able to complete your request until any Canada Post labour disruption ends.

To learn about other acceptable delivery methods permitted by the Rules of the Court, please contact the office using the information above.

The County’s Provincial Offences Administration office is responsible for the administration of the County’s court services including setting trial dates and collection of fines laid under the Provincial Offences Act (POA).

Provincial Offences are non-criminal charges and include fines issued under the Highway Traffic Act (e.g., speeding tickets), Liquor Licence Act, Trespass to Property Act and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act. Other charges under Provincial Offences jurisdiction include contravention to municipal by-laws and minor federal statutes such as Fish and Game. The Provincial Offences Administration is a division of the Huron County Treasury Department.
