Egypt, Gift of the Nile

Traveling exhibit from the Royal Ontario Museum
The ancient Egyptians developed from a simple agricultural community into a sophisticated society. The civilization flourished and endured for thousands of years. Explore Egyptian civilization: Daily Life, Personal Adornment, Art & Architecture, Family Life, Education, Writing, Religion, Funerary Religion, and the Afterlife. Programme includes exhibit exploration & activity centres.

Curators and Curiosities

Learn about the development of Museums from cabinets of curiosities to buildings such as ours. Investigate the life and work of our founding curator and explore the Museum behind the scenes to discover some of our own curiosities. Is this a future career for your students?

Innovative Huron

Investigate inventions that have changed our lives and the lives of people who came before us as we explore the homes, workplaces and tools of the past. Become an inventor of the future with a blueprint of a new invention of your own.

Salt of the Earth

Available at the Huron County Museum

Explore the history of salt mining in Huron County. Investigate the many uses of salt, how it is produced and what it is really like in the salt mine. Test yourselves with our salt mine jeopardy game to wrap it all up.

Gaol Programs

If These Walls Could Talk

Discover life behind the stone walls at the Huron Historic Gaol. Follow early inmates from courtroom to cell and compare the life of prisoners with the life of their governor.
