The Huron County Health Unit 2009 Community Health Status Report examines a wide range of health-related information on everything from the County's cancer rates to injuries from vehicle collisions.
This report focuses on the overall health of Huron County residents, and compares Ontario and Huron County's factors and statistics, making it a valuable document in planning program direction and development.
Highlights which emerged from the data examined in the report include:
- Huron County residents report a strong sense of belonging to their community and report lower stress levels than the province
- In Huron County, there is a significantly higher percentage of residents who are obese than the province
- Huron County has a lower rate of teen pregnancy than Ontario
- Leading causes of death in Huron County are ischemic heart disease, cerebrovascular diseases (stroke), and lung cancer
