Nutrition Tools for Schools© is a program to help schools create a healthy nutrition environment. It complements the Ministry of Education's Foundations for a Healthy School.

The Nutrition Tools for Schools© toolkit provides a wide range of resources and interactive tools to support school communities in their effort to help create healthy eating environments.

The nutrition standards do not apply to lunches or snacks brought from home.

The program takes a whole school approach to health, food and nutrition. It outlines healthy eating strategies for all places where food and beverages are offered or sold:

  • classroom
  • school
  • home
  • community

Nutrition Tools for Schools© provides communication tools to assist schools with establishing a committee, conducting an assessment of the current school nutrition environment and creating an action plan to achieve their goals.
