The Community Food Advisors (CFAs) are a group of trained volunteers who work with health unit staff and community partners to
promote healthy eating and food safety to consumers in Huron County.
There are 16 Community Food Advisor programs in 15 different communities across the province of Ontario. The program is supported
provincially by the Nutrition Resource Centre, Ontario Public Health Association.
The typical CFA loves food and has some knowledge and skills in food handling before joining the program. They complete the 40 hour
peer training program and are recertified annually based on attendance to meetings, educational updates and completion of
placements.
Community Food Advisor training includes safe food handling and storage and nutritious food selection and preparation.
