Breastfeeding Week, Oct. 1-8
   Community Stories

Listen/View Huron County parents share stories of their breastfeeding experiences.

Canadian Breastfeeding Week is always planned for the first week after the ninth month of the year to symbolize the beginning of breastfeeding after birth.

This year the Huron County Health Unit has organized a Virtual Latch-on to celebrate Breastfeeding Week. Latch-on is a term used to describe an infant latching on to the mother's breast to breastfeed. Virtual Latch-on is a way of showing support for breastfeeding moms in Huron County.

We invite grandmothers, grandfathers, dads, moms, youth, men and women to show your support for breastfeeding! Join our Virtual Latch-on on our Facebook page Breastfeeding Connections Huron County and click on the I Support Breastfeeding button.

The Virtual Latch-on is October 4 from 10 to 11 a.m..

The theme for breastfeeding week is meeting people where they're at, whether it is on line or in person to support breastfeeding. Many Huron County mothers start breastfeeding their babies, as a community it is important to provide support for these women to continue breastfeeding their babies as long as possible.

The Health Unit is also hosting a breastfeeding celebration during Canadian Breastfeeding Week at the health unit in Clinton on October 6th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Anyone who supports breastfeeding is welcome to attend, come out and share your story to show your support of breastfeeding. Many Huron County businesses are supporting this event with great door prizes!
