The Huron County Health Unit posts 2011 beach water sampling results bi-weekly during the months of June, July and August. The abbreviated report for each beach sampling location includes:

• Date of water sampling
• E.coli counts from 5 various sampling sites at each beach (cfu/100ml)
• Geometric Mean of E.coli counts (cfu/100ml)
• Water Clarity (visible depth from surface, a measure of how far you can see into the water)
  • Clear (clear depth 100cm or greater)
  • Slightly Turbid (clear depth 40-99cm; turbid water results when sediment and other materials are stirred up in the water)
  • Turbid (clear depth 1-39cm)
  • Opaque (not clear at surface)
• Rainfall over the past 24 and 48 hours
