Dr. Nancy Cameron
Medical Officer of Health

Happy New Year

The Chief Medical Officer of Health for Ontario has released a report that Huron County residents may be interested in: Health, Not Health Care - Changing the Conversation. It is relevant to all of us because of the need to shift our focus from health care to prevention.

Prevention is about fewer people getting sick or injured in the first place. Huron County residents, like all Ontarians, could benefit from a prevention focus. Our Huron Health Reports describe the health of Huron County residents in terms of chronic disease, tobacco and alochol use, nutrition, and immunization rates.

Flu season lasts until spring. It is not too late to get your flu shot to protect yourself and others from influenza. You can get a free flu shot from your health care provider or at the health unit's Immunization clinic.
