The Huron County Planning and Development Department and Huron Business Development Corporation compile and provide statistics and publications related to the economic growth of the County of Huron and its municipalities.

Statistical information includes demographics, workforce, wage rates and more. Publications focus on different industry sectors and provide information on areas of importance to business decision makers.

  • Huron County's available labour force numbers 30,470 skilled, educated and committed workers.
  • We are home to an increasing number of accomplished tradesmen and apprentices, including ticketed welders, fitters and millwrights, who live and work in the community serving the agricultural and manufacturing sectors.
  • Major manufacturers, such as Wescast Industries Inc., and Volvo Construction Equipment recognize the outstanding work ethic of Huron County workers; 16% of our skilled workforce is employed in the manufacturing sector and 7% in construction and utilities.
  • At least 61% have earned at least a high school or trade certificate.
  • More than 65% of our residents are employed and our unemployment rate is 4.0%.
